Etching is a printmaking process with deep historical roots that can create a variety of tones and marks on a copper plate. In this demo, Lauren will lead guests through the preparation and printing process unique to copper etching, introducing the basic principles and techniques for the process such as applying hard ground, creating lines, and dipping your plate into acid (ferric chloride). Finished copper plate etching prints will be available to look at to see multiple examples and reference points of the medium.
